Platform for the Taiwanese building industry : with other technical partners we co-operate in an initiative of Andreas Gursch, the co-chairman of the Energy & Environment Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce Taipei (ECCT). A city villa will be stripped and completely refurbished into a zero energy building with office, meeting room and exhibition space. Regular events will bring the technical concept and special materials and equipments under the attention of professional visitors, like architects, contractors, project developers and representatives from government and the educational field. All applied and exhibited techniques are from north west Europe, with the purpose to market these in Taiwan.
For this project we provide a central system that includes air refreshment and -filtering, dehumidifying, cooling and heating. Applied are a (Swiss) Zehnder CA350 central ventilation machine with energy recovery unit : 90-95% of the energy put into the inside air temperature will be recovered from the waste air that is blown to the outside. In collaboration with the Zehnder R&D facility in Holland, we will perform a long lasting measuring procedure to compare temperature and humidity from the taken in fresh air, the clean air that will be blown in, the used air and the exhaust air, in order to come to better data and knowledge of the performance of central ventilation and energy recovery in a sub tropical climate. Part of the test will be to monitor the performance of Zehnders’ new and unique enthalpy recovery thermal energy exchanger, which high tech membranes can also exchange waterdamp for humidity. A (Sweden) Munters DryCool mini is connected for dehumifying the air when the climate gets uncomfortable humid. By it’s unique design with the highest COP it is the only dehumidifyer that will not increase the air temperature, while its power consumption is one of the lowest for this product type. Temperature control is done by only 2 fancoils for the whole house; 1 for the first floor, one for the 2nd floor. They spread their conditioned air via a ducting system to all the separate rooms. These V4E fancoils are a Dutch innovation and have very low requirements on the fluid side, as the air side is totally redeveloped, resulting in a very high efficiency to transmit the water temperature to the air, which could lead to a much bigger exchanging surface, and therefor a much higher capacity for cooling or heating. Uncommon so far in Taiwan is proper heating in wintertime, and if done, in a very energy consuming way. Nevertheless, temperatures in the north of Taiwan can go down to 10-12°C, which combined with the standard high humidity often becomes very uncomfortable for us. Our installation also provides central heating in an energy efficient way. Powering the 2 fancoils will be done by a (German) Rittling air-to-water heatpump. Other products that we will show in this Center: (active) Phase Change Materials applications, the most effective presently available; advanced thermal insulation materials for indoor application, light, thin, and with very high R-value; solar radiation reflective roof paint according to latest nano-technology; thermal reflective (breathing) indoor wall paint; a combined system of floor cooling/heating and air refreshment; EPDM water proofing material, with European sustainability certificate; Accoya wood, a tropical hardwood replacing acetylated pinewood, with super durability for outdoor use.
